To record the movement of piglets that occur in the farm there are two ways in S4:
- Inform the system during the lactation phase, that movement has been made.
- Inform the system at the time of weaning that the movement has been made to adjust the balance of piglets for each sow.
During the lactation phase:
Management> Farrowing> Data Entry> Fostering Piglet.
Click on the icon to add a fostering piglet.
It will open a fostering screen to be filled as follows:
Sow's ID: Sow number that is lactating
Fostering date.
Action: you must choose wheter "foster on" or "foster off".
Second Sow's ID:Secondary ID of sow that is lactating. It's that sow female that receives or donates the piglets.
Number of piglets.
If you work in a farm with genetic control, you can select specific piglets by clicking the icon and click "next".
It will open a new screen to select the specific piglet. You can look for the piglet's ID or just clicking on the box on the left of the ID:
Once you complete simply click on "save and continue" to add more fostering data or click on "save and close" to leave the screen.
On Weaning:
Access Management > farrowing > Data entry> Weaning.
Click on the icon 'nursing bottle' to add a weaning and a piglets movement.
It will open the weaning screen, there you can also add a piglet movement from one sow to another by filling the following data:
Movement date.
Action: foster on or foster off piglets
2nd Sow ID: Secondary sow ID. It's that female that receives or donates the piglets.
